What is DisQuake?
DisQuake is a Sonoma County, California based group of individuals who identify as being a person with a disability, or a disabled person, who work towards disability social justice in our community.
Nearly 1 in 5 people in the United States had a disability in 2010, according to a broad definition of disability, with more than half of them reporting the disability was severe, according to a comprehensive report on this population released today by the U.S. Census Bureau.
This means that 100,000 people in Sonoma County have some sort of disability according to census. However, that doesn’t mean that all of these people will actively identify as disabled.
Disquake is a place for people who are interested in connecting with others around their own experience with disability, can feel welcome.
